#CoreFitFive

My alarm rang. It was still dark out.

I made my way out of bed and downstairs.

The clock read 5:03am. Ahh, perfect. Plenty of time to get things done before Lariah woke up...

I made my coffee, sat down and looked at my to-do list. WOW, it was big.

“I’ve got this”, I told myself. (It was the first day having Lariah home with me full-time since the stay-at-home orders began and her daycare closed.)

I worked fast, getting out some urgent emails and making important calls…

But before I knew it, it was 7am and Lariah was awake.

Instead of marking off my to-do list, I added 5 things to it. 🤦‍♀️

In normal life, this doesn’t matter because I can take care of the rest of the list after Lariah goes to day care…

But we’re working with a new normal here, so it was time for some adjustments.

Is this happening to you too?

Balancing work and homeschool and family life… it’s A LOT to do at once.

I literally had to sit down and come up with a new schedule for myself for each day, along with rules on how to make the most of my time.

First, I turned off the news. Seriously, guys. It’s not helping any of us.

Then I started focusing on what I CAN control. These 5 core principles - the #CoreFitFive as I call it will help us to BE BETTER in every aspect of our lives and as I just mentioned we CAN control them. Doing them will help give you a sort of order in your day, no matter how crazy it gets.

1. Move: Move your body daily. You do not need to be in a gym and you do not need a lot of time. When I say move your body every day, I literally mean get off the couch and spend 10+ minutes intentionally getting your heart rate up. You do not even need equipment. You can walk a mile or jump around with your kids! There is no reason I will accept ;) as to why you can’t do this!

2. Drink: Drink half your body weight in ounces of water daily. Get a waterbottle, it helps! Drinking enough water helps us to recognize hunger cues when they are real, not when we are just thirsty! Think of your body like a plant. When you are not getting enough water, it is shriveled and dehydrated like a dying leaf. When we are hydrated it can work optimally.

3. Shake: Have a protein shake daily. This is a game changer. Most of us are not getting enough protein in our diets. Protein helps us feel full longer and helps with muscle recovery and repair. A protein shake is the easiest way to balance out our calorie intake and up our protein!

4. Mind: Affirm, develop, surround and fill your mind with positivity. Your mind is like an oven. What you put in, you bake out. If your putting in c*** you are going to get a c*** pie. ;) What you say to yourself affects your mindset, and everything you read, watch and listen to affects your mind, even if it's subconsciously.

5. Balance: Eat nutritious foods 80% of the time. Yes this is possible even in a pandemic!

As a mom, I also had to start thinking of tasks as “awake” tasks and “naptime” tasks. This has been a really big help for me!

What things can you include your kids in? And what needs to be done when they’re napping, or entertaining themselves.

For example, I can’t use naptime to cook dinner. I need to get my work done while she sleeps!

So I had to adjust my expectations for cooking, slow down a bit, and figure out how to include Lariah in the kitchen.

We need to be intentional during this time if we want to keep our sanity.

For me, that means going with the flow… letting Lariah join me in things I used to do when she wasn’t with me…

And controlling those 5 things I listed above.

If you’re ready to take control of those things too, jump on into BOGA and you’ve taken care of the first one - MOVE.

Click here to learn about BOGA if you haven’t heard of it before. It’s a great choice for a virtual workout that works your whole body.

If you’ve heard me talk about BOGA for months and never joined, now is a great time to try it out. What questions do you have about the program? Reply and send them my way!
