#1 Mistake You Don't Want to Make at the holidays

You walk into your house and see a big dessert platter… Brownies, cookies, pastries and all kinds of sweets. 🍨🥧🍰🍪

Your husband brought home leftovers from his holiday party!

You’re not even hungry. You actually already ate an early dinner at a work function.

BUT the brownies look soooo chocolatey and amazing. You just have to have one.

You take it and eat it, and wow, it’s definitely good. Plus, one brownie isn’t going to hurt you anyway.

The problem is what happens next.

Later that night you’re making lunch for the next day and that tray is staring you in the face. You tell yourself "I already had one and messed up", (which btw is not true).  “Oh well, today is a wash anyways!” So you have two more.

Then in the morning you have "just a few bites" because hey, why not? It’s just sitting there! And you remember today is the cookie share day at your kid’s school, which you already planned on being a "cheat day".

AND you have your holiday party this week at work! And the annual neighborhood Ugly Christmas Sweater party on Saturday… brunch with friends on Sunday… and let’s not forget next week is Christmas eve and Christmas… then New Years!

You’re left thinking, “You know what - forget it! It's the holidays and I’m just going to enjoy whatever I want! In January I’ll be good. LIKE, REALLY GOOD and make up for all of it!”

Your holiday treat-temping scenario may play out a little differently than this, but I’m sure this looks familiar.

It’s the ALL or NOTHING approach when it comes to our health and it’s especially tempting this time of year.

This is the #1 mistake you can make.

I encourage you to pick some treats you can't go without and enjoy them GUILT-FREE.

It’ll be easier to stick to your healthy eating routines if you don’t completely deny yourself the seasonal sweets.

At the same time, don’t let that spiral into a month-long feeding frenzy!

As for your workouts this time of year… it’s a hectic time, so keep it realistic and simple. Just because you’re traveling or can’t make it to the gym doesn’t mean you can't workout.

A little consistency on most days goes a long way.

Just 20 minutes a day working out in your house is more than enough to blast calories, build muscle and have you looking and feeling great.
